How to taste a wine?

Visually

The visual examination shall be made interpreting the wine against a light source. Firstly, the clarity is analyzed, followed by meniscus (the contact of the wine with the glass, the stripe that appears in the glass). Afterward, color and fluidity are analyzed (by swirling the glass). In the case of sparkling wines, the emission of carbon dioxide is to be evaluated. It is very important the thickness of the layer of wine that can influence the color, therefore the volume of one-third of the glass capacity must be respected.

Olfactory

Without agitation, the glass is brought to the nose and the olfactory perception is to be kept.
It should be noted that the smell is a sense that gets fatigued the most quickly, that is the reason there is a break of 10 to 15 seconds after each inspiration.

Wine tasting

It should be noted that the smell is a sense that gets fatigued the most quickly, that is the reason there is a break of 10 to 15 seconds after each inspiration. Wine tasting The wine tasting results from the four primary tastes combination – sweet, sour, salty, bitter, as opposed to other smells that are infinite. Take a suitable quantity of wine in your mouth in such a way as to be able to come into contact with the entire oral cavity. Once the wine reached the mouth, it should be “walked” and “touched” in such a way as to feel the fluidity, the silkiness and the softness. The time tasting will not be less than 4-5 seconds, but it will not exceed 10-12 seconds.
